Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Partner with the best As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will lead a team executing on database strategies and take responsibility for the day to day operations, integrity, architecture, modeling, security, and performance tuning for our MySQL databases. You’ll play a key role in managing and improving the health and stability of our MySQL instances. You’ll regularly partner with development and systems groups to provide deep subject matter expertise in various projects. As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for: Database administration; install, configure, upgrade, and migrate existing databases Responding to and resolving database related requests from other departments Defining database requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence the new designs and standards Identifying data security related issues and help with improving overall security of the database environment Providing support, leadership and motivation for project teams Collaborating with our support, operations and engineering teams to investigate and troubleshoot complex problems Participating in on-call rotations, guiding restoration and repair of service-impacting issues Other tasks as required Do what you love To be successful in this role you will: Have a degree in Computer Science or a related field Have 4+ years of experience with MySQL/Percona Server with focus on Innodb storage engine and internals and experience in deploying and managing schemas in a distributed high availability environment Have experience managing DDL changes in a high volume OLTP environment. Also, possess an understanding of MySQL Replication principles, replication topologies and managing topologies through Orchestrator Have experience working with developers helping them with database development including schema design, indexing strategies and query optimization Have in-depth knowledge of MySQL and ProxySQL configuration and management, backup strategies and disaster recovery scenarios. Possess real world experience using Percona toolkit and other database tools to help with database activities in a high traffic environment and have experience in configuring and monitoring ProxySQL in a high traffic environment to support load balancing/HA/mirroring About us At Akamai, we make life better for billions of people, trillions of times a day.
