[Remote] Lead Functional Consultant/Business Analyst

100% Remote Full-time Open now

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. System Automation Corporation is a software vendor focused on providing systems that support government regulatory management operations. The Lead Functional Consultant/Business Analyst will lead complex regulatory implementation engagements, provide coaching and guidance to consultants, and develop best-practice documentation to enhance team performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements analysis by collaborating with client stakeholders, reviewing documentation, conducting workshops to surface business needs, and translating requirements into well-architected platform solutions
  • Develop detailed technical solution documentation including process flowcharts, diagrams, data models, and user guides
  • Own the full user story lifecycle: author stories with testable acceptance criteria in Jira, and drive ongoing requirements clarification with client and internal stakeholders through delivery
  • Configure and maintain business applications using the Evoke low-code platform, operating within solution designs established by the development team and escalating design decisions accordingly
  • Ensure all production changes follow lifecycle methodology, version control, appropriate testing, and risk guidelines
  • Conduct working sessions with clients to facilitate feedback and resolve issues during client review and UAT
  • Lead end-user and administrator training sessions
  • Facilitate User Acceptance Testing, guiding end users and resolving reported issues
  • Triage and document system issues during client review and testing, coordinating with solution developers on resolution
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day coach and escalation point for the solution consulting team (6–10 consultants)
  • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching conversations focused on skill development, project challenges, and career growth
  • Support onboarding of new solution consultants, including structured ramp plans and early milestone check-ins
  • Provide real-time feedback on consultant deliverables, calibrating work against team quality standards
  • Coordinate with the Professional Services Manager on team health, individual development, and escalations
  • Thrive in a leaner environment where operating standards are still maturing, bringing structure and consistency to the team rather than relying on pre-existing frameworks
  • Model SA’s core values — Respect, Honesty & Integrity, Empathy, Responsiveness, Customer Experience, and Accountability — in all team interactions
  • Develop and maintain best-practice documentation for requirements gathering process mapping, backlog management, solution configuration, testing, and training
  • Create reusable templates and frameworks that improve delivery consistency across the team
  • Build delivery structure where it doesn't exist, including templates, quality checklists, and decision frameworks that the team relies on in active engagements
  • Drive adoption of established standards across active projects, working with project managers and consultants to ensure frameworks are applied consistently, not just documented
  • Conduct internal workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Collaborate with the Professional Services Manager to refine delivery standards and methodologies

Skills

  • Proven experience coaching and developing other professionals in a software development context — not only reviewing outputs, but actively building capability
  • Strong analytical mindset and ability to assess client business needs at program level
  • Proven experience in requirements analysis in purpose-built no-code, low-code software implementations, including leading requirements for large, multi-stakeholder projects
  • Strong understanding of enterprise software, low-code platforms, and workflow automation
  • Ability to translate client needs into developer-ready technical specifications — acceptance criteria, data model definitions, workflow decision logic
  • Solid working knowledge of Agile methodology in custom software development contexts, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies; experience applying progressive elaboration to requirements, and comfort working in iterative delivery cycles where scope evolves alongside the solution
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to lead workshops, facilitate difficult client conversations, and hold scope with confidence
  • Practice-building instinct — the ability to extract tacit knowledge from delivery experience and encode it into reusable tools others can use
  • Exceptional attention to detail; strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects, mentees, and practice workstreams simultaneously
  • Self-starter with high integrity and professionalism
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Proficiency in Atlassian Jira and Confluence
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years in business analysis or functional consulting for enterprise software implementations
  • Demonstrated experience leading requirements for large projects and contributing to practice standards and/or team enablement
  • Track record of coaching or mentoring less experienced consultants with measurable outcomes
  • Bachelors Degree or Graduate Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with GovTech implementations or regulatory systems
  • Prior experience implementing commercially available SaaS solutions (Salesforce, Appian, ServiceNow, or similar)
  • Experience working with low-code platforms and workflow automation (MS Power Apps / Logic Apps a plus)
  • Experience working with APIs (REST / Graph)
  • Ability to use mockup tools such as Figma or PowerPoint to explain design approaches
  • Experience with JavaScript for building user experiences

Benefits

  • Profit-sharing plan
  • Up to 10% domestic travel
  • 100% Remote (U.S. residents only)
  • Uncapped PTO and flexible work environment
  • Career growth into senior practice leadership and management
  • Health and welfare options including medical, dental, and vision; health savings account with company contributions; medical flexible spending and dependent care
