[Remote] Accounting Manager
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Celcuity is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing targeted therapies for cancer treatment. The Accounting Manager will oversee the financial close process, ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial reporting, while also supporting operational initiatives and mentoring staff within the accounting team.
Responsibilities
- Drive the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes in accordance with US GAAP, including managing the accounting for accruals, accounts receivable, and sales commission calculations
- Support Celcuity’s employee stock purchase plan, including contributions, purchases, preparation of individual employee statements, and related journal entries
- Support operational initiatives, such as coordinating insurance policy renewals, managing VAT return filings, and other ad hoc projects as needed
- Assist with the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust internal control procedures, including supporting Celcuity’s SOX 404(b) readiness initiatives
- Oversee the accounts payable function, including invoice processing, vendor management, reconciliations, and timely disbursements in alignment with company policies
- Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, facilitating efficient quarterly reviews and annual audits
- Mentor and develop staff within the accounting and accounts payable functions, fostering a collaborative environment focused on professional growth
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Manager, Accounting and Assistant Controller on strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a manager or supervisory role
- Hands-on experience managing the monthly and quarterly financial close process and executing internal controls in a SOX-compliant environment; experience supporting SOX 404(b) implementation or readiness projects a plus
- Proven expertise with stock-based compensation accounting, equity award activity, and annual tax reporting
- Experience supporting various operational and administrative functions across the organization
- Prior experience in accounting for accruals and R&D expenses, with a track record of effective cross-functional collaboration
- Continuous improvement mindset; seeking ways to drive innovation and efficiencies
- Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple processes and documentation requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to influence and build credibility at all levels
- Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience in the life sciences industry is strongly preferred
- Prior experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences strongly preferred
