[Remote] Senior Software Engineering Manager

Franklin Fitch is a professional services organization seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead the development of a cloud-native automation platform. The role involves making significant architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and managing a team focused on cloud-native technologies while remaining hands-on with coding and development.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture of a distributed cloud-native platform running on Azure Container Apps, Service Bus, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Blob Storage
- Design and evolve event-driven systems for high-volume asynchronous processing
- Lead .NET backend development including ASP.NET Core APIs, CQRS with MediatR, and Entity Framework Core
- Own multi-stage Azure DevOps YAML pipelines covering infrastructure deployment, container builds, and environment-specific releases
- Drive performance, cost, and operational improvements through architectural decisions
- Run code reviews that enforce real standards: SOLID principles, async best practices, distributed systems patterns
- Manage and grow a team of software engineers with a focus on cloud-native skill development
Skills
- 6+ years building cloud-native applications on Azure
- 3+ years with Azure Container Apps, AKS, or equivalent container orchestration
- 2+ years managing software engineering teams
- Deep C# and .NET proficiency (minimum .NET 6, preferably .NET 8+) including async patterns, LINQ, dependency injection, and Entity Framework Core
- Proven production experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, and Azure Service Bus
- Hands-on experience with Azure PostgreSQL, managed identity, connection pooling, and private endpoint configuration
- Scripting capability in Bash or PowerShell; solid TypeScript/JavaScript proficiency
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent demonstrable experience
- Azure certifications (AZ-400, AZ-305, AZ-204, AZ-104)
- Experience with .NET Aspire, Event Grid, or Event Hubs
- Expert-level Bicep or Terraform for complex IaC modules
- Deep Azure networking knowledge: VNETs, private endpoints, Application Gateway, Private DNS Zones
- Background in professional services or regulated environments with exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001, or GDPR
- Experience in compliance-driven or regulated environments is a strong plus
