[Remote] National Account Director - Market Access
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. MiniMed is a full-stack insulin delivery company dedicated to supporting people living with diabetes. The National Account Director will play a critical role in advancing MiniMed’s Market Access strategy by leading strategic engagements with key national PBM and payer organizations, developing account-specific plans to expand access, support reimbursement, and strengthen MiniMed’s position across its product portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Independently seek analysis to support negotiations as a backbone for fact-based decision making in partnership with Pricing & Contracting, business analytics and medical affairs (HEOR) and lead contract pricing committee discussions regarding approvals for contracting requests for targeted accounts
- Develops and executes national sales and access plans with direct impact on revenue, coverage, and future opportunities. Accountable for execution of high-visibility payer initiatives and strategic projects
- Influences outcomes through persuasion, insight, and collaboration rather than direct command. Engages internal and external stakeholders around shared objectives with competing priorities
- Monitor performance against contracts, forecasts, and access objectives, identify gaps, risks, and opportunities
- Provide customer insights and expertise in combination with analytics for support of key business decisions and strategies
- Oversee rebate validation, contract performance, and downstream analytics to ensure alignment with financial and contractual terms
- Inform strategies and tactics to support appropriate formulary placement, reimbursement (coverage, coding, payment and patient access) and utilization management across payer customers
- Support pre-deal analytics and scenario modeling to ensure future contracts align with access, operational, and financial goals
- Negotiate cost effective contracts that allow access to all MiniMed products for providers and their patients
- Create clear messages for dissemination to field based clinical specialists and reimbursement managers on important payer trends, changes, and billing requirements that will affect product utilization
- Work with the MiniMed Field Reimbursement Managers to assure accurate coverage determinations are rendered and resolve customer issues
- Partner cross‑functionally with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Clinical, and Legal teams to prevent and resolve market access issues
- Translate payer insights into actionable recommendations for product positioning and strategy
- Mentor field partners and influence market access processes across the organization
- May directly manage specific select GPOs/PBM/PAYER accounts
Skills
- Bachelors Degree and 5+ years relevant pharmaceutical or healthcare related experience
- Or, advanced degree and 3+ years relevant pharmaceutical or healthcare related experience
- Experience specific to account management, payer strategy, analytics or other related market access roles
- Strong understanding of payer contracting, rebate agreements, formulary management, UM criteria, and gross-to-net
- Proven ability to synthesize complex data into execution plans
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex initiatives across functions
- Strong understanding of how payer strategy impacts broader organizational outcomes
- Executive-level communication and relationship-building skills
- Familiarity with diabetes technologies and emerging market trends
- Understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements related to payer contracting and healthcare policy
