Role Overview

The Senior Customer Service Representative – Healthcare & Medicare Call Center Specialist is a pivotal position within arenaflex’s inbound call center operations. Reporting directly to the Customer Service Manager, you will be the voice of arenaflex for our Medicare and Medicare Advantage members, providers, and internal partners. In addition to delivering world‑class service on every call, you will mentor new agents, champion process improvements, and act as a liaison between the claims department and healthcare providers. This role is fully remote, offering you the flexibility to work from any location with reliable internet connectivity.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Interaction & Support

  • Answer inbound telephone calls from members, providers, and other stakeholders, providing accurate information and empathetic assistance.
  • Initiate outbound calls when follow‑up is required, ensuring timely resolution of pending issues.
  • Document every interaction in arenaflex’s ticketing and tracking systems, maintaining meticulous records for compliance and analytics.
  • Deliver data, claim status, and benefit explanations to callers within established service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Escalate complex or high‑impact issues to senior leadership or specialized teams as appropriate.

Claims & Provider Liaison

  • Research member claims across primary payor systems, verifying eligibility, coverage, and payment details.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between arenaflex’s claims department and external providers, facilitating smooth communication and rapid issue resolution.
  • Interpret and explain coding, billing, and medical terminology to both lay callers and healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate with the coding and billing teams to ensure accurate claim submissions and reduce denial rates.

Mentorship & Continuous Improvement

  • Onboard and coach new call‑center agents, sharing best practices, call scripts, and compliance guidelines.
  • Identify trends in call data, propose process enhancements, and participate in cross‑functional improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct regular knowledge‑sharing sessions to keep the team updated on changes in Medicare regulations, plan benefits, and arenaflex’s service offerings.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a healthcare call‑center environment, with a focus on Medicare or Medicare Advantage.
  • Comprehensive understanding of covered plan benefits, including medical, pharmacy, and supplemental services.
  • Solid knowledge of physician practice and hospital coding (ICD‑10, CPT, HCPCS), billing processes, and medical terminology.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel; experience with customer‑service software (e.g., CRM, ticketing platforms) is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications (e.g., Certified Call Center Professional, Healthcare Customer Service) are a plus.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and compassionately.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle escalated calls and resolve issues efficiently while maintaining a calm demeanor.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience with remote work tools such as video conferencing, collaboration platforms (e.g., Slack, Teams), and secure VPN connections.
