About arenaflex – Pioneering the Future of Public Sector Cloud Innovation

arenaflex is a global technology leader dedicated to empowering governments, educational institutions, and mission‑critical enterprises with cutting‑edge cloud solutions. Our mission is to transform the way public sector organizations operate by delivering secure, scalable, and intelligent cloud services that drive efficiency, collaboration, and citizen‑centric outcomes. With a deep commitment to diversity, inclusion, and continuous learning, arenaflex provides a vibrant environment where engineers, architects, and innovators thrive while making a tangible impact on society.

Why This Role Matters

As a Customer Engineer III focused on Application Modernization, you will be at the forefront of arenaflex’s effort to help public sector clients transition from legacy systems to modern, hybrid‑cloud architectures. Your expertise will enable agencies and schools to unlock new levels of productivity, security, and agility, ensuring they can serve their constituents more effectively in an increasingly digital world.

Role Overview

This position blends deep technical acumen with consultative sales expertise. You will partner with arenaflex’s technical sales teams, product managers, and engineering groups to design, prototype, and champion innovative cloud solutions that address complex business challenges. Whether you are guiding a state agency through a multi‑year modernization roadmap or helping a university launch a proof‑of‑concept for a new research platform, your work will directly influence the success of arenaflex’s public sector portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Opportunity Identification: Collaborate with sales and solution teams to uncover and qualify business opportunities, translate technical objections into actionable plans, and develop strategies to remove adoption barriers.
  • Technical Advocacy & Architecture Design: Serve as the subject‑matter expert on arenaflex Cloud, infrastructure‑as‑code, containerization, and security best practices. Deliver compelling product briefings, bid responses, and solution overviews tailored to public sector needs.
  • Legacy Application Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing on‑premises applications, evaluate performance bottlenecks, and recommend a prioritized modernization roadmap that aligns with hybrid‑cloud objectives.
  • Proof‑of‑Concept Leadership: Design, build, and execute prototyping workshops that validate proposed architectures, demonstrate value, and capture critical requirements for engineering hand‑off.
  • Customer Engagement & Presentation: Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical stakeholders and executive leadership, using clear storytelling, data‑driven insights, and persuasive presentations.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product management, engineering, and marketing teams to feed customer feedback into the product development cycle, influencing roadmap priorities.
  • Travel & Advocacy: Represent arenaflex at customer sites, industry conferences, and public events, acting as an ambassador for our cloud solutions and fostering community relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 10 years of hands‑on experience with cloud‑native architecture, modernizing legacy applications, and performance profiling/tuning in a customer‑facing or support capacity.
  • Proven expertise in architectural design patterns, platform engineering (including Infrastructure‑as‑Code, automation, image and repository management), virtualization, container orchestration, application security, and networking.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting state or local government clients, understanding the unique regulatory and compliance requirements of the public sector.
  • Strong communication skills with a track record of presenting technical solutions to senior executives and technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing scalable architectures using API management, microservice frameworks, and Platform‑as‑Service (PaaS) offerings.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Node.js) and the ability to write production‑grade code when needed.
  • Familiarity with the full software development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
  • Certifications such as arenaflex Cloud Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, or relevant security credentials.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Depth: Deep understanding of cloud platforms, hybrid‑cloud networking, and modern application frameworks.
  • Problem‑Solving: Ability to diagnose complex technical issues quickly, propose innovative solutions, and guide customers through implementation.
  • Communication & Influence: Exceptional presentation and storytelling abilities, capable of translating technical detail into business value for diverse audiences.
  • Collaboration: Strong team player who thrives in cross‑functional environments and can build consensus among engineers, product managers, and sales leaders.
  • Customer‑Centric Mindset: Passion for understanding client challenges, delivering tailored solutions, and fostering long‑term relationships.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating fast‑changing technology landscapes and evolving public sector priorities.
