Role Overview – Software Development Engineer (Level 5)

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to join our high‑performing Devices Customer Service Technology team. In this role, you will design, develop, and ship software that runs on a variety of platforms—including mobile, front‑end clients, and server‑side systems—supporting the intelligent self‑service ecosystem for arenaflex’s smart home and digital products.

As a Level 5 engineer, you will not only write production‑grade code but also mentor junior engineers, champion best‑practice standards, and influence the technical direction of the team. Your work will directly affect the reliability, scalability, and user satisfaction of the services that power millions of arenaflex devices worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement robust, high‑performance services that enable intelligent self‑service experiences for smart home devices and mobile applications.
  • Collaborate across functional teams—including product management, UX design, data science, and operations—to define engineering standards, establish reusable patterns, and ensure seamless integration.
  • Drive code quality through rigorous code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration pipelines, fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Mentor and coach peers and junior engineers, sharing knowledge on design patterns, performance optimization, and reliability engineering.
  • Advocate for the customer by translating user feedback and support metrics into actionable technical improvements.
  • Design and develop front‑end components for mobile and web clients, ensuring responsive, accessible, and intuitive user interfaces.
  • Build and maintain backend services using modern cloud‑native technologies, focusing on scalability, fault tolerance, and low latency.
  • Explore emerging AI/ML capabilities, such as generative AI assistants, to enhance the self‑service experience and reduce manual support workload.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies—sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, retrospectives—to deliver incremental value in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends in smart home, voice interaction, and mobile technology, bringing innovative ideas to the team.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience beyond internship roles.
  • At least 2 years of experience designing or architecting complex systems, with a strong grasp of design patterns, reliability engineering, and scaling strategies.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or Kotlin, and the ability to quickly learn additional languages as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve large‑scale engineering problems with clean, maintainable code.
  • Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and a proven track record of building effective working relationships across diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with a knack for devising creative solutions to seemingly impossible challenges.
  • Passion for smart home and connected device ecosystems, and a desire to shape the future of customer support technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience spanning the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source‑control management, build automation, testing, and production operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and the ability to integrate generative AI services into customer‑facing applications.
  • Background in mobile development (iOS/Android) and modern front‑end frameworks (React, Angular, Vue).
  • Prior leadership or mentorship experience within a software engineering team.
