Software Asset & License Manager

100% Remote Full-time Open now

Company team.blue is an ecosystem of 60+ successful brands working together across 22 European countries to provide its 3.5 million SMB customers with everything they need to succeed online by offering best-in-class expertise and services. team.blue's brands are a mix of traditional hosting businesses that offer services from domain names, email, shared hosting, e-commerce, and server hosting solutions and, as specialist SaaS providers, adjacent products such as compliance, marketing tools, and team collaboration products. This broad product offering makes it a one-stop partner for online businesses and entrepreneurs across Europe. About the role team.blue is hiring a Software Asset & License Manager to build our Software Asset Management (SAM) capability from the ground up. This is a new role in Group IT, created because our software estate — spanning on-prem, SaaS and hybrid across 22 countries — has outgrown spreadsheet-driven license tracking. We want one person owning it end-to-end. You’ll join the Enterprise Applications team and partner closely with Finance and Procurement to give team.blue full visibility, control and optimisation of software licensing across the group. Your first major deliverable: evaluate the SAM market, select and implement a license management solution that becomes the single source of truth for software entitlements, usage and cost. This is a strategic, high-visibility role with direct exposure to the Head of Group IT and Group COO — and a rare greenfield mandate to design how a fast-growing European tech group manages software at scale. What you’ll do: Build the SAM capability (first 6–12 months) Evaluate the SAM platform market and lead selection of a license management solution that fits team.blue’s hybrid estate (on-prem, SaaS, cloud) Implement the chosen platform end-to-end, including integration with Jira Service Management (our current ITSM and asset platform), finance systems and procurement workflows Leverage existing data sources — including our ongoing Lakeside SysTrack POC for endpoint software usage telemetry — to accelerate the inventory baseline Establish the operating model: processes, governance, RACI, and reporting cadence Optimise license cost and compliance (ongoing) Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities — true-downs, unused entitlements, overlapping tools, right-sizing — with measurable savings reported to the COO and CFO Manage compliance posture for major vendors (Microsoft, Adobe, Atlassian, Autodesk and others) and lead audit defence Own the renewal calendar and partner with Procurement on negotiation strategy, true-ups and contract terms Drive centralisation of currently fragmented agreements (e.g. Adobe) into group-level contracts Stakeholder partnership Work hand-in-hand with Procurement on vendor strategy and Finance on cost allocation, chargeback and forecasting Advise Enterprise Apps, EUS, EUC and Core IT teams on license-efficient architecture and tooling decisions Support Post-Merger Integration (PMI) — rationalising overlapping software estates from acquired entities Engage stakeholders across technical and non-technical functions, translating licensing and entitlement implications clearly, and actively listening to requirements to ensure tooling and license decisions reflect real customer needs Governance and reporting Build dashboards and KPIs: cost per user, license utilisation, savings realised, compliance risk Define and enforce SaaS approval policy together with IT and Security to control shadow IT Own software asset and license management processes end to end, ensuring adoption and adherence across teams while aligning with team.blue security policies and governance standards What you bring Must-have: 4+ years of experience in software asset management, license management or IT procurement with a strong SAM component Hands-on experience with at least one SAM platform (Flexera, Snow, ServiceNow SAM Pro, USU, or similar) Experience across the full software estate: on-prem, SaaS and hybrid licensing models (per-user, per-core, consumption-based) Track record of managing compliance and audits with major vendors (Microsoft, Adobe, Atlassian, Oracle, etc.) Strong analytical skills — comfortable in Excel, Power BI/Tableau, translating data into actionable savings Excellent stakeholder management — equally effective with a Finance Controller, a CISO and an engineering lead Fluent English Nice-to-have Greenfield SAM implementation experience (platform selection and rollout end-to-end) Familiarity with Jira Service Management as an ITSM/asset platform Familiarity with DEX tooling (Lakeside SysTrack, Nexthink) as a data source for SAM IAITAM, ITIL or equivalent certification Experience in multi-country, PMI-active environments Background in tech, SaaS, hosting or digital services Familiarity with FinOps and cloud cost management adjacent to SAM Why team.blue, why this role Greenfield mandate — you design the capability and pick the tools, not inherit someone else’s setup CFO visibility — your savings show up in board reports; you own a number that matters Scale and complexity — 22 countries, active PMI pipeline, a software estate grown both organically and through acquisition Fully remote — work from anywhere in Europe Team — you'll be part of a 24-person Group IT team that takes craft and collaboration seriously, covering EUS, EUC, Enterprise Apps and Core IT. You're not slotting into a finished structure: SAM is a growth area for us, and the right person will shape how the function matures and scales as the business does. Right to Work At any stage, please be prepared to provide proof of eligibility to work in the country you’re applying for. Unfortunately, we are unable to support relocation packages or sponsorship visas. ESG “At team.blue, our commitment to caring for the environment and each other is at the heart of everything we do.
