[Remote] Retention Marketing Manager

They are seeking a Retention Marketing Manager to develop and implement strategies for customer retention through email, SMS, and subscriptions, while collaborating with various teams to enhance customer relationships and drive value.
Responsibilities
- Own retention marketing strategy across email and CRM channels
- Define the campaign calendar, audience segmentation, and messaging priorities
- Brief and direct creative partners — whether in-house or external — on content, A/B testing frameworks, and performance targets
- Build, optimize, and expand lifecycle automations — welcome series, post-purchase, replenishment, winback, re-engagement, and sunset flows
- Develop and refine segmentation strategy using behavioral, purchase, and cohort-level data
- Translate email performance data into actionable strategy shifts across campaigns and flows
- Manage and grow the SMS channel as a retention and engagement tool
- Coordinate SMS and email cadence to maximize impact without subscriber fatigue
- Own the subscription program end-to-end — strategy, offers, cadence, portal experience, and reporting
- Design and test churn intervention flows and save offers
- Drive subscriber lifetime value and reduce voluntary and involuntary churn
- Track and report on retention KPIs including repurchase rate, churn, LTV, and customer cohort performance
- Maintain data accuracy and alignment across e-commerce, email, subscription, and attribution platforms
Skills
- 2–4 years of experience in DTC retention or lifecycle marketing, ideally in CPG or wellness
- Hands-on experience building and optimizing email flows and campaigns
- Experience managing subscription programs and churn reduction strategies
- Familiar with tools like Klaviyo, Stay.ai, and Triple Whale, and comfortable working within the Shopify ecosystem
- Comfortable owning strategy while managing creative execution through in-house teams or external partners
- Organized, proactive, and excited to build in a fast-moving environment
- Has worked with a DTC brand doing $5M+ in annual online revenue
- Experience managing or growing an SMS program
- Understands the interplay between retention, acquisition, and brand — not just open rates
- Experience marketing in regulated or rapidly evolving industries where traditional channels are constrained
