Position Overview

The Overnight Front‑End Pharmacy Technician role is a pivotal part of our medication dispensing workflow. Working in a closed‑door pharmacy that serves long‑term‑care facilities, you will partner closely with pharmacists to ensure that every prescription is entered accurately, verified for safety, and processed efficiently. This position offers a unique blend of data‑entry precision, customer‑service excellence, and teamwork—all while contributing to the health and well‑being of vulnerable patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Order Entry & Verification: Accurately input prescription orders into the pharmacy management system, double‑checking dosage calculations, patient allergies, and drug‑interaction alerts.
  • Collaboration with Pharmacists: Work side‑by‑side with the dispensing pharmacist to resolve any discrepancies, provide necessary clinical information, and ensure timely medication delivery.
  • Customer Service Triage: Prioritize and route internal service requests from nursing staff, caregivers, and other departments based on urgency and required response.
  • Narcotic Management: Review and process controlled‑substance prescriptions promptly, adhering to state and federal regulations.
  • Record Maintenance: Create and maintain accurate patient medication records, ensuring compliance with privacy standards and internal audit requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in routine checks for therapeutic duplications, drug‑interaction warnings, and other safety flags generated by the system.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute ideas to streamline front‑end processes, reduce errors, and enhance overall pharmacy efficiency.

Day‑in‑the‑Life Snapshot

During the overnight shift, you will be the first point of contact for incoming prescription orders. Your day will begin with a brief handoff from the day‑shift team, followed by a focused period of data entry, verification, and communication with the pharmacist. You’ll respond to urgent medication requests from nursing staff, ensure that controlled‑substance orders are processed within regulatory timelines, and maintain meticulous records that support seamless patient care across multiple facilities.

Qualifications – What We Require

Essential Qualifications

  • Certified, licensed, or registered pharmacy technician status as required by state law.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as a pharmacy technician in any setting.
  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) that can be verified.

  • Time Management: Prioritize tasks effectively in a fast‑paced, overnight environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Work cohesively with pharmacists, other technicians, and support staff to achieve shared goals.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to state, federal, and arenaflex policies regarding medication handling.
