Community Health Epidemiologist Position Overview

POSITION TITLE: Community Health Epidemiologist LOCATION: Hybrid POSITION END DATE: 6/30/2026 SALARY: $80,000 (plus benefits) OVERVIEW The CDC Foundation is looking for a Community Health Epidemiologist to support the Office of Statistics and Evaluation (OSE) within the Bureau of Community Health & Prevention (BCHAP) at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. This role will provide epidemiologic expertise to the Community Health Equity Initiative (CHEI) and programs within the Division of Community-based Prevention and Care (DCBPC). The position involves working closely with program and epidemiology teams across CHEI, the Office of Oral Health, and other DCBPC programs to address needs related to data, surveillance, and evaluation. Key tasks include conducting literature reviews, assisting with survey creation, analyzing clinical and population-level surveillance data, supporting program evaluations, developing reports and data communication materials, helping meet grant requirements, and providing additional support as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • MPH in epidemiology or biostatistics
  • At least two years of relevant epidemiologic or related experience
  • Strong understanding of epidemiologic study design and statistical methods
  • Proficiency in SAS and/or R for data analysis
  • Experience with survey development and data collection
  • Experience planning and carrying out program evaluations
  • Experience developing and maintaining Tableau dashboards
  • Familiarity with statistical methods such as multivariate linear and logistic regression
  • Experience gathering public health program data and creating data collection tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and process-oriented
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supporting primary data collection, including designing surveys, administering them, managing databases, and cleaning data.
  • Creating and updating Tableau dashboards to advance program goals.
  • Assisting with the creation and implementation of evaluation and analysis plans for the Office of Oral Health and other DCBPC programs.
  • Conducting epidemiologic and statistical analyses using SAS and/or R with datasets such as hospital discharge data, mortality data, BRFSS, YRBS, YHS, and the Community Health Equity Survey.
  • Assisting program and epidemiology teams with grant-related tasks, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Advising fellow epidemiologists on appropriate statistical approaches and analytical limitations.
  • Preparing materials for diverse audiences, including reports and data visualizations.
  • Providing support for other CHEI and DCBPC initiatives as needed. SPECIAL NOTES This role supports an evolving public health program, and duties may shift as program needs change. Any modifications to responsibilities will require written approval from both the CDC Foundation and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to best support public health efforts across the Commonwealth. This is currently a hybrid position, though the CDC Foundation may adjust this arrangement as necessary.
