Our client, a forward-thinking agricultural technology company, is seeking a skilled and analytical Agricultural Data Analyst to join their team. This role is based in Baltimore, Maryland, US , but offers a fully remote work arrangement, providing flexibility for candidates across the nation. The Agricultural Data Analyst will be instrumental in collecting, processing, and analyzing vast amounts of agricultural data from various sources, including sensors, farm management software, satellite imagery, and weather stations. Your primary objective will be to extract meaningful insights that support improved crop yields, resource management, and sustainable farming practices. You will develop and maintain data models, dashboards, and reports to visualize key trends and performance metrics for stakeholders, including farmers, agronomists, and management. Responsibilities include identifying patterns and correlations in agricultural data, performing statistical analysis, and building predictive models to forecast outcomes such as yield potential, disease outbreaks, and optimal planting/harvesting times. Proficiency in data visualization tools and statistical programming languages (e.g., R, Python) is essential. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of agricultural principles and practices, coupled with advanced data analysis skills. A Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Agricultural Science, Computer Science, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is highly preferred. You should have experience working with large datasets, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations. Build predictive models for yield forecasting, disease prediction, and resource optimization. Create and maintain dashboards and reports using data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). Interpret data findings and translate them into actionable insights for stakeholders. Collaborate with agronomists and farm managers to understand data needs and implement solutions. Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security. Stay updated on advancements in agricultural technology and data analysis techniques. Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Agricultural Science, Computer Science, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis, preferably within the agricultural sector. Strong proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R or Python. Experience with database management (SQL) and data warehousing concepts. Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). Knowledge of agricultural principles, practices, and relevant technologies. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong communication and presentation skills.
