Environmental Technician / Geologist
Job Description: This job would entail performing the following tasks:
- Performing visual inspections and maintenance as needed of landfill for compliance with applicable permit conditions
- Operation, Maintenance, and Monitoring of pump and treat and other types of remediation and leachate conveyance systems
- Mowing and maintenance of landfill cap and drainage areas
- Multimedia sampling that includes proficiency in groundwater, soil, surface water, sediments, and air sampling.
- Remediation construction and drilling oversight on project sites.
- Waste management and tracking
- Work with data management and project management teams to ensure data is managed properly
Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. Degree or specialized training is preferred in a technical field (such as Environmental Science, Biology, or geology) but community college or other accredited trainings may be substituted.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification and/or current 8-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Annual Refresher preferred
- OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour Construction Training
Key Experience Requirements:
- Travel as needed across North America with the potential to work out of town between several days to a few weeks
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to think strategically and intellectually and work within project budgets
- Excellent organizational skills
- Familiarity with sampling techniques, equipment, and demonstrate mechanical skills in troubleshooting
- Liaise with project team members and managers
- Work independently in a virtual environment
