Senior Automation Test Engineer (UI / TypeScript / Playwright) Premier are partnering with a high-growth technology company building a complex, data-driven SaaS platform used at scale. They’re looking for a Senior Automation Test Engineer to take ownership of UI automation and help shape how quality is engineered across the product. This is an engineering-first position where you’ll design frameworks, solve complex system challenges, and directly influence product velocity, reliability, and user experience. Why This Role

What You’ll Do Automation Engineering & Framework Ownership
- Architect, build, and evolve modern UI automation frameworks using TypeScript and Playwright.
- Design scalable testing strategies for complex, dynamic UI environments.
- Establish best practices across test design, code quality, and tooling.
- Evaluate and introduce tools that improve coverage and reduce flakiness.
Technical Leadership & Execution
- Write clean, maintainable, production-grade automation code.
- Own automation strategy across new features, services, and integrations.
- Solve challenges around asynchronous behavior and complex UI states.
- Mentor and guide engineers on automation strategy and best practices.
Quality & Collaboration
- Partner closely with Product and Engineering to embed quality early in the development lifecycle.
- Work with developers to build testable systems and quickly diagnose issues.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable feedback loops.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and architecture planning.
Tooling & Infrastructure
- Integrate automation into CI workflows and orchestration pipelines.
- Implement reporting, logging, and debugging tools (e.g. traces, video capture).
- Analyze test reliability trends and continuously optimize performance.
- Explore tools for visual testing, API validation, and parallel execution.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong experience in QA automation, with a focus on UI testing.
- Hands-on experience with TypeScript/JavaScript and Playwright.
- Proven experience building automation frameworks from scratch.
- Solid understanding of modern web application behavior and architecture.
- Ability to debug complex, flaky tests and asynchronous systems.
- Collaborative mindset with strong ownership and problem-solving instincts.
Nice to Have
- Experience with distributed or high-scale systems.
- Exposure to performance testing or monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with component testing frameworks.
- Cloud platform experience.
- Experience building internal tools or developer utilities.
