Position Description
The University of Mississippi invites applications for a full-time faculty position (Open Rank-Faculty title to be determined upon hire) in the Center for Intelligence and Security Studies (CISS) starting in August 2024. Designated as an Intelligence Community-Center of Academic Excellence (IC-CAE) legacy program, CISS seeks a dynamic intelligence or national security educator to contribute to its mission of preparing students for careers in the U.S. intelligence and national security sectors. The CISS program currently delivers two undergraduate minors in Intelligence and Security Studies and Global Security Studies. It works closely with the University of Mississippi's Croft Institute for International Studies, Lott Leadership Institute, Chinese Language Flagship Program, Arabic Language Flagship Program, School of Engineering, Computer Science Department, and other academic programs. CISS students graduate with a robust understanding of the intelligence and national security fields. They combine a CISS minor with an academic major specialization to help them excel in the national security sector. More information can be found at .
Responsibilities:
This is a full-time faculty appointment (9-month) with teaching, research, and service duties. The incumbent will be expected to teach 3 courses a semester as part of the intelligence and national securities studies program, including undergraduate courses related to intelligence studies, intelligence analysis, national security policy, cybersecurity policy, and special topics related to national security.
The CISS program currently delivers undergraduate minors in Intelligence Studies and Global Security Studies, however, envisions delivering other degree programs. CISS is particularly interested in individuals with backgrounds in national security, data visualization and data analytics, cybersecurity, applied intelligence community (IC) research, and military intelligence matters. CISS is also interested in individuals with relevant experience in the U.S. intelligence community, the military, or other organizational contexts.

Minimum Qualifications
- An earned doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited university (Ph.D, Ed.D, J.D.), or a master's degree with three years of teaching experience
- Demonstrated ability to engage in intelligence, cybersecurity, and/or national security-related employment, education, and/or research
- Experience preparing students for employment as national security specialists in the public and/or private sectors
- Relevant experience in the U.S. intelligence community, foreign service, the military, or other organizational contexts
- Record of teaching excellence in a university setting
- Eligibility to hold a U.S. government security clearance
