Summary
Redwire Space Missions has an opportunity for a Remote, PT, Temporary , Guidance, Navigation and Controls focused Aerospace Engineer, for a period of up to 3 months. In this role the engineer will support design, analysis, and testing of GNC subsystems of various space program efforts. They should have experience with the space systems development lifecycle, intimate knowledge of the GNC fundamentals, and experience working physical systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform analysis to support early design phase concept development including actuator sizing and placement, sensor selection and placement, and predicted performance assessments
- Design and analysis of spacecraft attitude and position control loops using time and frequency domain techniques
- Design and analysis of sequential filters (Kalman filters) for attitude determination and relative navigation
- Analysis and test of spacecraft GNC subsystem performance using simulations and other analytic tools
- Implement GNC algorithms in flight software and support flight software qualification testing
- Develop simulation models for sensors (star trackers, inertial measurement units, GPS, magnetometers, sun sensors), actuators (reaction wheels, torquer bars, thrusters), system dynamics (rigid body, multi-body, orbit mechanics, flexible models), and the space environment (atmospheric, solar radiation pressure, third-body gravity, geopotential)
- Apply engineering principles, industry standards, company process, and knowledge of vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, propulsion, control, and estimation theory
- Document designs, analysis, and test results and create presentation materials
- Interface with Key stakeholders, internal and external, about system design and project status
- Determine Propulsion needs and perform vendor trades
Requirements
- BS Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience or 0 - 2 years of experience w/MS, or PhD in engineering, physics, mathematics, or related field
