Job title: Performing Arts Instructor Company: The Salvation Army Job description: The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Performing Arts Instructor for the Baton Rouge/Corps, located in Baton Rouge, LA. Job Summary: Plans, instructs, and leads students participating in performing arts classes including drama, dance, etc.; ensures proper maintenance and usage of all equipment and supplies; assists students and parents by answering questions about the School for Performing Arts and promotes repeat attendance. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of the fundamentals, rules and practices of modern drama techniques. Knowledge of proper methods and procedures for maintaining drama equipment. Knowledge of various dance techniques. Ability to lead, instruct, and control students participating in performing arts classes. Ability to work with students of all ages and to promote motivation and dedication. Ability to meet quality standards and deadlines. Ability to maintain effective and professional working relationships with clients. Education and Experience:High School diploma or G.E.D. and One-year experience performing and/or leading drama and/or dance techniques or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to perform in front of a large audience. Ability to stand for extended periods of time while leading of performing in a theatrical performance. Work is performed in an environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associate with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
