• Professional Educator License With Endorsements in Areas of Service
• Ability to Work Effectively With Special Education Students, School Staff, and Parents
• Must Project a Positive Image of the District to Students, Staff, Parents, and Public
• Must Have the Ability to Travel to/from Various Locations in the District as Needed

JOB GOAL: A special education teacher is specifically employed to work with students who need extra support, or required specialized instruction in order to reach their full educational potential. Special education teachers may work with individuals who have physical disabilities, sensory impairments (i.e., hearing or visual), speech and language difficulties, learning difficulties such as dyslexia, conditions such as autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, or have a combination of these difficulties. Special education teachers are assigned to buildings based on the needs of students. They assist the student service team in screening, evaluating, and educating students. Special education teachers provide both direct and indirect services based on the needs of students. See attached job description for additional details.
