Job Summary

As a 988 Chat/Text Crisis Specialist, you will be part of a 24/7/365 mental health crisis/suicide prevention focused team, handling incoming chat/text messages through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL), also known as 988. You will provide brief clinical screenings, risk assessments, and appropriate service linkage for individuals experiencing emotional distress. While interactions begin online, this position may also support telephonic intervention to ensure safety.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments

• Answer crisis contacts via the chat/text platform to assess for suicide, safety, and identify appropriate community resources to meet individual needs
• Conduct follow-up calls for individuals deemed moderate to high risk for suicide
• Meet the ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation
• Actively participate in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings
• Assist in administrative tasks as needed

Essential Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in behavioral science, Psychology, Social Work, or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist

• Six months to one year of related crisis experience
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Demonstrated knowledge and competency in providing service linkage and referrals for programs, services, and other community resources
• Knowledge of suicide assessments
• Skill in providing crisis intervention

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working in a crisis hotline or mental health setting

• Familiarity with trauma-informed care and crisis intervention
• Certification in crisis intervention or a related field

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
