Job description: GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Loads, unloads and transports various materials on heavy duty trucks; operates heavy duty trucks; cleans work sites; keeps written records. Assists higher classified maintenance workers and/or crafts workers in maintaining and repairing buildings and grounds. Performs other related tasks as required.

All classified, permanent employees with the Cincinnati Public Schools who meet the qualifications listed below as of Monday, September 25, 2023. IT IS THE POLICY OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION THAT TEMPORARY TRANSFER AND/OR PROMOTION TIME WILL NOT BE COUNTED FOR EXAMINATION ELIGIBILITY PURPOSES (CIVIL SERVICE RULE 10, SECTION 2 ? 8/3/89).
REQUIRED SERVICE RATING: Last 2 out of 3 ratings must be satisfactory.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Must be currently employed with CPS and have two years of satisfactory service as a Custodian 2.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD:
Four months.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EXAMPLES OF REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- English language sufficient to read work orders and other work-related documents, and to write simple reports on work projects and requests for materials and equipment;
- arithmetic sufficient to combine measurements, figure accounts and proportions of materials needed, etc., by adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing; and basic hand tools and standard power tools.
- drive a heavy duty dump or stake body truck;
- follow all safety practices generally recognized in the construction industry;
- maintain simple written records;
- use basic hand and standard power tools;
- learn to use spirit levels, plumb lines, squares, etc.;
- learn to read and work from work orders, sketches and diagrams;
- learn to use toxic materials in a safe manner;
- work at heights, depths and in confined, dirty or dusty places;
- work productively with little or no supervision; and
- learn and apply new work processes.
