Job description: The Interventionist works closely with the school principal and certificated classroom teachers to provide supplemental support to students in schools who have academic performance needs. The position has a retirement association with the Public Employees? Retirement System (PERS).
Job Requirements
The following are required: * A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Within 45 calendar days of hire must meet paraprofessional requirements for the state of Alaska through one of the following methods: 48 college semester credits from a regionally accredited institution, OR a passing score of 459 or greater on the ETS Paraprofessional Assessment exam, OR passing the WorkKeys by ACT assessment, OR passing the ASD provided Master Teacher paraprofessional training.
- Experience working with children, youth, or adults in an educational environment.
- Knowledge of Macintosh computers and other office technology.
- Experience or training in working with children in an instructional environment with an understanding of multicultural awareness issues.
- Prior experience working in an individualized instruction program.
- Evidence of strong English reading, writing, and speaking abilities.
- Works collaboratively with the teacher to plan, deliver, and adjust instructional support according to students? individual needs and level of academic achievement.
- Offers educational opportunities on an individual or small group basis according to the needs and academic achievement of students.
- Provides tier II interventions either face-to-face or by supporting students? computer-based instruction.
- Participates in staff meetings and in-service training.
- Attends meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
- Works to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and maintain accurate records with a minimum of supervision.
- Effectively presents information to staff, students, and administrators.
