PART-TIME HEALTH EDUCATOR II (WOMEN, INFANTS, & CHILDREN PROGRAM) - SIERRA VISTA28 hours per week / Benefits EligibleCLASSIFIED: Position is subject to the provisions of the Merit System Rules pursuant to Arizona Law.OPENS: Friday, April 10, 2026CLOSES: Position is open until filled with applications reviewed upon receipt and may close at anytime.ANTICIPATED RATE OF PAY: $19.50 to $21.50 hourly plus a comprehensive benefits package to include membership in the Arizona State Retirement System.PLEASE NOTE: Position is grant-funded, with continued employment dependent upon grant funding. PLEASE NOTE: All positions at Cochise County require a post offer pre-employment background screening. NATURE OF WORK: Under general supervision performs work of moderate difficulty in a public health setting; providing services, education, support and advocacy through public health programs to individuals, families, groups, businesses and community organizations. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class.TYPICAL DUTIES: (Illustrative Only) Uses established guidelines to evaluate and determine eligibility for public health/nutrition programs; conducts health screenings and evaluates results; develops, selects, and revises educational materials; develops and implements educational plans; provides preventive health education; evaluates individuals, families and/or groups for other health, economic and social needs; maintains referral and outreach network; conducts marketing and outreach to increase services; provides referral of client families/groups to other social programs; ensures accurate documentation and recordkeeping. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in health care, medical care, early childhood, special education, elementary education, secondary education, social work, nutrition, or closely related field PLUS one (1) year of related experience OR three (3) years of related experience including health care, medical care, early childhood, special education, elementary education, secondary education, social work, nutrition.An equivalent combination of experience, education, and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities of this classification may be considered.Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and the ability to be covered by county insurance.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to individuals who are bilingual in English and Spanish Working knowledge of:
- fundamental theories, concepts and methods of health education;
- teaching and counseling methods applicable to health education;
- public health programs, functions, and services;
- prevention/control methods of communicable diseases;
- basic health care practices and collection of health information;
- the organization of health and nutrition services and referral resources;
- the principles of adult learning and teaching skills;
- dynamics of social interaction and behavior.
