The Assistant Academic Department Chair role will provide support to Purdue University Global. Job Summary:
The Assistant Academic Department Chair will work with the Department Chair to supervise full and part-time faculty and ensure their involvement in providing course feedback and participation in professional development and in-service activities. Additionally, the Assistant Chair will work with the Department Chair in curriculum review and updates.
In collaboration with the Associate Dean and the Academic Chair, the Assistant Chair will assist with:
- Scheduling of classes and assignment of faculty to the schedule.
- Training and assessment of new faculty members.
- Seminar coverage due to difficulties on the part of the instructor.
- Curricular development, evaluation and revision.
- Make recommendations to the Department Chair as appropriate, related to hiring, evaluation, and retention of faculty in discipline courses.
- Contribute to the overall success of the College as a whole, including positive working relationships with peers and external departments.
- Supervise faculty to ensure maintenance of the College classroom standards.
- Participate in institutional assessment as assigned.
- Regularly attend and participate in faculty meetings and in-services.
- Remain current with trends, techniques, and advances in distance learning and graphic arts that are applicable to the program.
- Teaching assignments, scholarship, and service per term as determined by the Assistant Dean of College.
- Perform other similar job-related duties as assigned.
- The target salary for this position is $55,000-$65,000.
