East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work, delivering essential local services and making a real difference to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.

We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council's Corporate Fraud Team as a Corporate Fraud Intelligence Officer.

Your role

Are you looking for a meaningful part-time role (15 hours per week) where you can make a real difference? This is an exciting opportunity to join our Fraud Team within the Council’s Internal Audit Team as a Corporate Fraud Intelligence Officer.

In this key role, you will act as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) between the Council and other departments (internally and externally) ensuring effective communication.

Ability to analyse and interpret large quantities of data to detect potential cases of fraud. Ability to undertake work in a methodical and logical manner with attention to detail is essential for evidence in court cases.

What you will need

Do you have an inquisitive mind? If so, we are looking for a diligent and proactive Intelligence Officer to join our successful Corporate Fraud Team in a key role to assist in reducing fraud and error within the public Sector. This is a great opportunity to contribute towards the protection of public funds by supporting complex investigations and helping maintain the integrity of our systems.

You should be comfortable producing formal written reports, liaising with Investigators and colleagues across the Council, presenting complex information/evidence.

Ideally procedural knowledge of the state benefit system which is acknowledged as a “specialist area” to make informed decisions and provide high-quality support.

As a strong communicator and team player, you’ll also have the initiative to work independently and contribute to wider office based pro-active exercises, including data matching and data sampling activities to identify cases of suspected fraud adhering to the Data Protection Act regulations.

The role will be remotely based, (subject to certain conditions) but may also involve travel across the district to provide face-to-face services alongside the Investigator as well as providing support over the phone and digital platform.

A full driving licence and access to a car is essential for this role.

A DBS check plus a psychometric evaluation will be required also.
