Job description

1. General Ledger Management

  • Journal Entries (JEs): Preparing and posting manual journal entries for transactions that aren't automated ( adjusting entries).
  • Accruals & Prepayments: Calculating and posting accruals (expenses incurred but not yet invoiced) and prepayments (expenses paid in advance, like insurance or rent).
  • GL Master Data: Creating and maintaining the Chart of Accounts (adding or blocking GL accounts).  

2. The Month-End / Year-end Close 

  • Closing Schedule: Managing the timeline to ensure all modules (AP, AR, Fixed Assets) are closed on time.
  • Trial Balance Review: Reviewing the Trial Balance for errors, unusual balances, or misclassifications before the books are locked.  

3. Balance Sheet Reconciliations

  • Account Reconciliations: Substantiating balance sheet accounts (Bank, Taxes, Accruals, Equity) to ensure the ending balance is correct.
  • Open Item Management: Investigating and clearing old items sitting in suspense accounts or clearing accounts.  

4. Fixed Assets (FA) Accounting

  • Capitalization: Recording new asset purchases (Additions).
  • Depreciation: Ensuring the monthly depreciation runs correctly based on the asset’s useful life.
  • Disposals & Impairments: Removing sold/scrapped assets from the books and checking if assets have lost value.  

5. Intercompany (IC) Accounting

  • IC Invoicing and Matching
  • Eliminations: Preparing data so that internal "sales" between branches are canceled out during consolidation (so the group doesn't look like it's making profit from itself).  

6. Statutory & Financial Reporting

  • Financial Statements: Preparing the P&L (Profit & Loss), Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
  • Management Reporting: Providing "Managerial Reports" (like the ones you mentioned for your audit) with commentary on budget vs. actuals.
  • Tax Reporting:  supporting VAT, CIT, and other statutory filings.  

7. Audit & Compliance

  • Audit Support: Providing the "lead schedules" and supporting documentation for the year-end audit.
  • Internal Controls: Ensuring compliance with policies (e.g., J-SOX) to prevent fraud or reporting errors. #LI-MS3
