Utilize knowledge of systems security principles and concepts of emerging Information Technology (IT) security developments, and of the infrastructure protection environment to select appropriate tools to be used by team members. Establish methodology and determines best techniques to secure computer systems and to protect cyber key terrain from exploitation of information within these systems and/or to achieve other tasked objectives in cyberspace. Leverage knowledge of multiple entities with a stake in current operations to plan and build appropriate courses of action and training scenarios. Function in at least one of the following advanced roles. Other duties as assigned.Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. • KANSAS AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND OPM PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK".
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance within one year of appointment.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

• THIS POSITION CONDUCTS INFORMATION ASSURANCE FUNCTIONS. THE INCUMBENT SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM AND WILL BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN CERTIFICATION WITHIN SIX MONTHS OF APPOINTMENT.

QualificationsMilitary Grades: E7 through E8Compatible Military Assignments: 1D791* Must be willing and able to cross train into the compatible AFSCGENERAL EXPERIENCE: The following qualification factors are applicable to the Cyberspace positions.Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately;Ability to plan, direct, and coordinate difficult and complex programs;Ability to develop, apply, and adjust cyber program plans to attain agency objectives;Ability to select, develop, and supervise a subordinate staff;Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, not only with subordinate staff, but with all levels of key management officials, the latter particularly requiring the exercise of tact, ingenuity, and resourcefulness;Ability to make oral and written presentations in a clear and concise manner;Ability to apply a high level of sound and independent judgment in the solution of cyber program problems and cyber mission requirements; A broad knowledge of and ability to utilize principles, methods, techniques, and systems;Ability to write proper English in reports and presentation formats;Ability to communicate clearly and effectively;Skilled in training, mentoring, and problem solving; and, Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting program material.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, in knowledge of the mission, objectives, terminology, and management practices in the activity, the agency and the department to recognize probable areas of interaction and to serve as a technical expert in systems/network security. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.Must be certified IAW DOD 8570.01-M, Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, Clinger Cohen Act of 1996 and current AF directives.
