Job title: Associate Vice President for Learning and Teaching Innovation Company: University of the District of Columbia Job description: Description Number of Vacancies: 1 Area of Consideration: Open To The Public Position Status: Full-Time, Regular Pay Plan, Series & Grade: DS0058/2A Salary Range: $111,768- $141,854 Closing Date: Open Until Filled Location: 4200 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008 Brief Description of Duties The Associate Vice-President for Learning and Teaching Innovation (AVPLTI) leads the university's learning, engagement, innovation, and teaching mission through the Learning Resources Division (LRD) oversight. The LRD includes University Libraries and the Center for Advancement of Learning (which embeds UDC?s Initiative on Digital Access and Learning). These units are led by a Director of Libraries, a Director of Learning Science and Outcomes, and a Director of Learning Technologies. The AVPLTI will be responsible for cultivating and strengthening connections among people across the University who are passionate about learning, sharing ideas, and contributing to education innovation at UDC. The AVPLTI will be a visible and adept relationship builder with a demonstrated capacity to cultivate trust and partner effectively with administrative leaders, faculty, staff, and students. The AVPLTI will advance educational innovations by supporting, conducting, and disseminating teaching and learning research, as well as building and evaluating the institution?s education technology tools and working with faculty and staff to use them effectively. The incumbent provides strategic direction for LRD, and collaborates with its directors to enhance the development and implementation of comprehensive, high-quality faculty development workshops, innovation, and resources supporting information literacy, digital literacy, and life-long learning. The AVPLTI leverages national models, theory and practice to provide cutting-edge services and resources to the UDC community. Key to this position is a focus on creative problem-solving and innovative solutions while having a thorough knowledge and understanding of existing operations. This position reports to the Chief Academic Officer. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Learning Quality Enhancement and Development

Directly supervises LRD Directors and serves as LRD?s representative on the Chief Academic Officer?s Deans? Council. Promotes institution-wide adoption of research and best practices in learning science to differentiate instruction and individualize learning to promote in student academic success. Supporting departments, schools, and colleges in offering online and hybrid courses and technologically rich face-to-face academic programs. Creating and leading programs that enhance student learning, retention, graduation, and support faculty and staff professional development. Leadership experience and knowledge about high-quality instructional delivery (and training) models at institutions and advancing the culture of learning and teaching in the changing landscape of higher education. Continues to build services, faculty professional development opportunities, and certifications based on the needs of UDC stakeholders. Promote and grow the use and adoption of LRD services across students, faculty, and staff.

• Innovation

Commitment to the principles of universal design to ensure that the procurement of digital tools, the development of digital learning environments, and the use of instructional technology in classrooms are accessible and inclusive of all learners. Envisions and deploys a digital learning strategy to grow UDC?s culture and competency for leveraging technology to meet learning and business outcomes. Develop and oversee the operations of the low-risk learning zones. Monitors the latest trends and innovations in digital learning, faculty development, and library services to ensure LRD activities are consistent with such trends. Seek external funding, partnerships, and resources to promote the mission and vision of LRD.

• Community Engagement and Development

Enhances LRD outcomes by implementing new learning approaches and innovative opportunities. Ensures effective connections with the community (e.g., advisory councils, focus groups) to continually innovate and adapt programming to meet the community?s evolving needs. Collaborates with Library Director to stay engaged with and leverage WRLC resources at UDC.

• Information Resources

Commitment to digital education with the credibility to serve as an internal and external champion of the value of technology as a tool to advance and transform teaching and learning. Creates opportunities and initiatives to grow UDC stakeholders' digital and information literacy. Provide leadership for the UDC textbook adoption process. Grows presence and stature of LRDs resources that promote both student and faculty research. Enhances the use of Online Educational Resources (OER) to meet the needs of diverse learners. Minimum Job Requirements

• A Ph.D. or appropriate terminal degree in higher education or a closely related field.
• Ten or more years of progressively responsible academic leadership experience in a higher education institution.
• Faculty experience required; preferred experience as a tenure faculty member.
• Experience managing teaching and learning centers.
• Experience working in or closely with a university library.
• Experience working with budgets that include expense and revenue targets and adjusting priorities/programs to meet budget targets.
• Experience creating leading professional development trainings.
• Experience working in both faculty and student services units.
• Computer and technology literate using Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office applications, planning and communication technology, and the Internet.
• Skilled in strategic planning and administrative oversight.
