Brief Description of Duties
The Associate Vice-President for Learning and Teaching Innovation (AVPLTI) leads the university's learning, engagement, innovation, and teaching mission through the Learning Resources Division (LRD) oversight. The LRD includes University Libraries and the Center for Advancement of Learning (which embeds UDC?s Initiative on Digital Access and Learning). These units are led by a Director of Libraries, a Director of Learning Science and Outcomes, and a Director of Learning Technologies. The AVPLTI will be responsible for cultivating and strengthening connections among people across the University who are passionate about learning, sharing ideas, and contributing to education innovation at UDC. The AVPLTI will be a visible and adept relationship builder with a demonstrated capacity to cultivate trust and partner effectively with administrative leaders, faculty, staff, and students. The AVPLTI will advance educational innovations by supporting, conducting, and disseminating teaching and learning research, as well as building and evaluating the institution?s education technology tools and working with faculty and staff to use them effectively. The incumbent provides strategic direction for LRD, and collaborates with its directors to enhance the development and implementation of comprehensive, high-quality faculty development workshops, innovation, and resources supporting information literacy, digital literacy, and life-long learning. The AVPLTI leverages national models, theory and practice to provide cutting-edge services and resources to the UDC community. Key to this position is a focus on creative problem-solving and innovative solutions while having a thorough knowledge and understanding of existing operations. This position reports to the Chief Academic Officer.

- A Ph.D. or appropriate terminal degree in higher education or a closely related field.
- Ten or more years of progressively responsible academic leadership experience in a higher education institution.
- Faculty experience required; preferred experience as a tenure faculty member.
- Experience managing teaching and learning centers.
- Experience working in or closely with a university library.
- Experience working with budgets that include expense and revenue targets and adjusting priorities/programs to meet budget targets.
- Experience creating leading professional development trainings.
- Experience working in both faculty and student services units.
- Computer and technology literate using Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office applications, planning and communication technology, and the Internet.
- Skilled in strategic planning and administrative oversight.
