Traveling Laboratory Supervisor

Clean Harbors Corporate Lab team is looking to add a Traveling Laboratory Supervisor. This person will be responsible for traveling up to 50% of the time coast to coast. The ideal candidate would be home based out of Baltimore, MD. Travel locations include Newark, CA and to other labs within the company located in the United States.

Travel: 50% of the time; all travel expenses reimbursed by the company.

Pay: $65,000-80,000 DOE

Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times;

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment that is in compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations as well as all applicable company Health and Safety and Compliance protocols;

  • Will travel to labs within the company to provide oversight and support;

  • Will provide QA/QC and lab audits to labs that you visit;

  • Helps with calibration of instrumentation, able to understand all aspects of instrumentation;

  • Maintenance of equipment, including outside vendor scheduling per maintenance contract schedules and suggest solutions and new/replacement schedules for existing equipment;

  • Completes all paperwork associated with the analyses in a neat and timely fashion;

  • Responsibility for supply management in their area of responsibility, including proper housekeeping and best management practices;

  • Ensures that laboratory maintains all applicable local, state and federal testing certifications;

  • Responsible for proper management of waste generated as a result of analytical procedures;

  • Responsible for meeting analytical testing schedules required for permit and discharge analytical;

  • Responsible for problem solving when results fall outside of mandated specifications;

  • Implements, maintains and provides necessary training in accordance with the Chemical Hygiene Plan;

  • Trains less senior members of the laboratory, implements and suggests operations improvement strategies and completes all personnel functions for the laboratory staff, including but not limited to, hiring, terminating, performance evaluations, etc;

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or physical science is required;

  • 3+ years of experience in a laboratory setting is required;

  • Valid Driver's License is required for rental cars;

  • Prior lab audit or QA/QC experience is required;

  • Ability to work independently and travel 50% of the time is required.
