GIS Analyst II
Job Description
General Responsibilities: Responsible for performing data acquisition, management, analysis, and visualization in support of engineering, consulting, and cultural resource management projects. Supports a range of environmental projects including archaeological and natural resources planning by providing geospatial analysis, mapping, and spatial data management. Provides and configures field data collection tools and training to meet accuracy and attribution standards while ensuring geospatial data remain current, properly documented, and compliant with agency requirements as well as Terracon Spatial Data Standards. This position plays a critical role in supporting Section 106, NEPA, and state-level regulatory requirements by producing accurate spatial data and technical mapping deliverables. The ideal candidate combines technical GIS expertise with a solid understanding of archaeological methods and cultural resource compliance requirements. Essential Roles and Responsibilities:- Develop, manage, and maintain geospatial databases for projects.
- Maintain project geodatabases and ensure compliance with agency data standards.
- Ensure data integrity, metadata standards, and compliance with federal/state data requirements.
- Create and maintain GIS maps and exhibits for project applications and reports.
- Integrate GPS and field-collected data into GIS platforms.
- Integrate environmental and historic datasets into project-level geodatabases.
- Design and manage mobile GIS data collection workflows compatible with Field Maps.
- Process and QA/QC GPS project data.
- Ensure spatial accuracy and consistency across projects.
- Georeference historic maps and integrate legacy site data.
- Complete data requests with state and federal agencies.
- Archive and organize spatial data for long-term project storage.
- Follows safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining internal quality standards on all projects.
- Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, engineering, computer science, or related field with 10 years’ related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years’ related experience.
- Proficiency using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop and extensions, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, MS Office, AutoCAD, 3D Design Software, and Field Maps.
- Experience with GPS data collection and mobile GIS applications.
- Familiarity with relational database management systems and various programming languages (e.g. Python, C#, XML, JavaScript)
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
