Junior Build Engineer
Sonos, Inc. is committed to creating the ultimate listening experience for its customers. As a Junior Build Engineer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the CI/CD pipeline, collaborating with software engineers, and supporting workflow automation solutions.
Responsibilities
- Build Engineers on the team work directly with software engineers to create solutions that enable the engineers to do their best work. You will learn from and contribute to projects including:
- Source control management systems (Git)Software build tooling for applications built on Mac, Windows, and Linux (Python andJavaScript)Continuous Integration and Deployment Systems (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)Artifact and release management systems (Artifactory)Workflow management and collaboration tools (GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Slack)Internal scripts used to package and publish software releases (Python)Cloud infrastructure (AWS), EKS, EBS and Lambda
Skills
- 0–2 years of experience in a software development, DevOps, build, or release engineering role, internship or co-op
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience
- Basic programming experience with Python and/or Bash
- Familiarity with version control concepts and Git
- Exposure to or coursework involving software build systems or scripting
- Eagerness to learn CI/CD tools and workflow automation practices
- Basic understanding of visualization tools (Datadog)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Any hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions
- Experience writing or modifying build scripts (make, maven, gradle, or similar)
- Exposure to cloud-based infrastructure (AWS) or containerization concepts (Docker)
- Familiarity with Agile project management tools such as Jira
- Exposure to Kubernetes, ArgoCD, or infrastructure-as-code tools (terraform, JCasC)
