May require some direction or guidance from the Location Service Management team.Responsibilities:
- Performs diagnostics and repairs on John Deere agricultural equipment and technology. May perform diagnostics and repairs on competitive equipment.
- Performs diagnosis and repair of customer equipment, primarily in the field.
- Operates and maintains vehicles, tools, and equipment required to perform job responsibilities.
- Participates in John Deere University training and dealer-led training to further the development of skills and knowledge
- Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
- Meets the John Deere requirements for an Advanced Service Technician.
- Mentors Service Technician Apprentices and Students as requested.
- May conduct or support customer clinics.
- Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
- Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
- Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders.
- Responsible for tracking all materials used in performing assigned duties.
- Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments in a timely manner.
- Other appropriate responsibilities as assigned by manager.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required, Associates degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience performing service repairs; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred.
- Ability to perform repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures with limited re-work or customer dissatisfaction.
- Experience with the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in off-road, construction, lawn, or heavy equipment.
- Ability to operate vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
- Experience with basic computer functions; experience using Service ADVISOR™ or other computer-based diagnostic repair tools preferred.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL (Commercial Driver's License) and forklift license preferred.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds repeatedly.
- Adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities required.
