Data Analyst
McMaster-Carr is a company that stocks and distributes a wide range of products, focusing on creating exceptional customer experiences. They are seeking a Data Analyst to support merchandising efforts by analyzing data and building new systems, as well as developing reports and dashboards to monitor customer impact and operational progress.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines that serve as the foundation for rich reporting and business intelligence
- Develop and optimize data models that transform raw data into clean, reliable datasets for downstream analysis
- Write clean, well-documented queries and code to ensure pipeline reliability, scalability, and maintainability
- Create reports and dashboards to monitor customer impact and operational progress
- Conduct analyses of customer behavioral data to identify trends and surface opportunities
- Develop business solutions that align with strategy and represent customer needs understood through data analysis and research
- Validate the impact of key metrics on long-term business objectives in a statistically rigorous manner
- Evaluate and build tools that enable teammates to solve problems and maximize customer impact
Skills
- A bachelor's degree is required for this role
- 1-2 years of professional experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, data science, or related fields
- Proficiency in SQL and Python (including libraries such as NumPy and Pandas)
- Experience designing and building data pipelines and data models
- Experience writing clean, well-documented, and version-controlled code
- Strong analytical and critical thinking ability
- Demonstrated ability and interest in using data to drive business decisions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with statistical methods such as decision trees, clustering, A/B analysis, or regression
- Bachelor's degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Quantitative Methods, or a related field
- Experience with HTML, JavaScript, or Neo4j
