The Role at a Glance
This position will provide leadership, direction and functional expertise on complex projects/initiatives for their assigned area(s) of responsibility. They will research, analyze, and perform due diligence on new investment strategies, managers, and investments as well as recommend, monitor, evaluate and report on investment strategies, managers, and investments to internal committees. In addition, they will contribute to market outlook and strategy, financial planning, and other projects.
What you'll be doing
- Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
- Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
- Provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
- Identifies and directs strategic process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for assigned area(s) of responsibility as well as directs/executes approved strategy decisions and contributes to strategy creation.
- Serves as the primary and secondary lead across sectors in private debt portfolios.
- Facilitates strategic dialogue between external managers, management teams, and Lincoln's investment team and senior leadership.
- Conducts due diligence reviews on current/prospective managers & investments to include: onsite meetings & conference calls with sr personnel; review/analysis of fund/investment documents & information, such as offering memoranda & financial statements.
- Contributes to the strategy development for investment issues/concern for their assigned areas of responsibility, provides strategies/solutions to complex investment problems.
- Plays a proactive role in the planning and execution of portfolio construction and investment allocation processes and long-term investment objectives.
- Fosters partnerships with internal stakeholders from the following business units: Accounting, Data Analytics, Legal, and Operations, cultivates and maintains relationships with investment/portfolio managers to ensure efficient execution and ongoing alignment of interests
- Assesses suitability and operational risk associated with the execution of investment strategies: prepares written reports; and presents findings to internal committees.
- Provides ongoing assessments of the performance of investment/portfolio managers and specific investments strategies by leveraging analytics and reporting.
- Contributes to the idea generation process and identifies appropriate investment response to key themes, opportunities, and risks in the capital markets broadly.
- Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines. Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
- 4 Year/Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) (Minimum Required)
- 12+ Years of experience in investments and/or fixed income directly related to the specific responsibilities of this position. (Required)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrates ability to communicate knowledgeably and credibly with senior management and internal constituents.
- Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
- Ability to think critically, analyze information and to evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution and interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
