In this role, you'll be instrumental in implementing DevOps principles, with a focus on public & private cloud, security orchestration & architecture, and application security. You'll also work on compliance & governance automation, data analytics, visualization, and product security development. The day-to-day As a Cybersecurity Software Engineer, your day-to-day work involves a close collaboration with Product Management to implement new features for our distributed web-based enterprise application and its surrounding systems. A core part of your function will be to foster a security-first development mentality throughout the team, ensuring that security is considered from the very beginning of the design and development process. You'll also be instrumental in building tools and frameworks that simplify and streamline the integration of security features into other products across the company, making it a more efficient process for everyone. This role requires you to be a proactive force in both building secure products and enabling others to do the same. What you'll need

• A bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of back-end development experience, with at least one year of front-end development experience.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript.
• Experience with at least one front-end framework, such as React (preferred), Vue, Ionic, Bootstrap, Semantic UI, Foundation, Angular, or Polymer.
• Experience with a variety of databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Amazon DynamoDB, Redis, Amazon Timestream, MongoDB, Oracle, Cassandra, HBase, Hive, or Impala.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, along with excellent software design and debugging abilities.
• The capacity to quickly learn new software, frameworks, and APIs.
• Experience with, or a strong desire to learn, Linux.

What will help you on the job

• 1+ year of experience in Cyber Security Engineering is ideal.
• Experience with deployment tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Git, GitHub, Heroku, Artifactory, Jenkins, Puppet, CHEF, CF Engine, Ansible, Terraform, Argo CD, and SaltStack.
• Experience in configuring and implementing CI/CD pipelines, specifically with GitHub Actions and workflows.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services, OpenStack, Microsoft's Azure, Google Cloud, and Salesforce.
• Experience using security tools including Tenable/Nessus/Qualys, Kali, Coverity/Fortify, Twistlock, AppSpider/Netsparker/Burp, Wireshark, Metasploit, and Nmap.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP network fundamentals.

Salary range $135,500.00 - $214,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $168,500.00- $252,500.00/ annually At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.
