Position Overview – Customer Service Representative

As a Customer Service Representative at arenaxflex, you are the first point of contact for every guest who calls, walks in, or uses our digital ordering platform. You will manage inbound phone orders, greet customers in‑store, operate point‑of‑sale (POS) technology, and ensure that each order is prepared accurately and delivered on time. Your role blends interpersonal communication, basic math, and a love for food service, all while maintaining the high standards that make arenaflex a leader in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Order Processing: Receive and enter phone, in‑store, and online orders accurately using the POS system or touchscreen terminals.
  • Customer Interaction: Provide friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable service, answering product questions, suggesting menu items, and handling special requests.
  • Cash Handling: Calculate totals, make correct change, process credit/debit transactions, and follow cash‑handling procedures.
  • Food Preparation Support: Assist with ingredient stocking, dough preparation, and basic assembly tasks during peak periods.
  • Inventory Management: Conduct routine inventory counts, record discrepancies, and help replenish supplies.
  • Sanitation & Safety: Maintain a clean work environment, follow food safety guidelines, and handle hot equipment safely.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate with delivery drivers, kitchen staff, and fellow front‑of‑house teammates to ensure seamless order fulfillment.
  • Continuous Learning: Participate in on‑the‑job training, attend periodic skill‑enhancement workshops, and stay updated on new menu items or promotional offers.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 16 years (or older, as required by state labor laws).
  • Strong verbal communication skills with a clear, friendly phone manner.
  • Basic math proficiency – ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide quickly and accurately (calculator use permitted).
  • Comfort operating a computer keyboard, touchscreen, or POS terminal.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks that involve lifting up to 50 lb (e.g., boxes of supplies).
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

Day‑to‑Day Work Environment

Our Somerset location is a bustling hub where the aroma of freshly baked pizza meets the hum of active service stations. You will split time between the front counter, the phone line, and occasional back‑room duties. Temperatures can range from the cool chill of the walk‑in cooler (around 36 °F) to the hot zones near ovens (up to 500 °F), so appropriate protective gear and safety awareness are essential.

Physical tasks include:

  • Standing for most of the shift, with brief periods of sitting while completing paperwork.
  • Walking on ceramic‑tile and linoleum floors, navigating a compact service area.
  • Carrying ingredient containers, sauce buckets, and pizza trays (weights ranging from 3 lb to 30 lb).
  • Pushing and pulling dollies loaded with pizza trays or supply boxes.
  • Reaching for items up to 72 inches high and bending or stooping for low‑lying shelves.

Safety & Sensory Considerations

  • Regular exposure to food odors, cornmeal dust, and occasional hot surfaces.
  • Use of hearing and speaking skills when communicating with customers over the phone.
  • Depth perception and visual acuity are required for precise dough handling and equipment operation.
