Title: Instructor or Assistant Professor-Human Services (9-month) Agency: Blue Ridge Community College Location: Augusta - 015 FLSA: Exempt Hiring Range: $49,711 - $77,871 Full Time or Part Time: Full Time Job Description: Founded in 1967, Blue Ridge Community College has served the residents of the central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia for over 50 years. Its comprehensive program of instruction includes associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates in occupational/technical and college/university transfer programs. The College also provides non-credit workforce training and special interest classes for individuals, business, and industry. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing leadership for the Human Services Associate in Applied Science degree and related career studies certificate program by teaching Human Services, Mental Health, Psychology and Sociology courses; coordinating and supervising student internship experiences; and fostering relationships with area Human Services Agencies. In addition to teaching responsibilities, this position will also include program assessment; curriculum development; and assisting with the onboarding, training, mentoring, and management of adjunct instructors in the discipline, including dual enrollment. Additional responsibilities include advising, service to students, service to the college including committee work/governance, and/or community organizations/activities; participation in scholarly and professional activities; and development and support of courses and programs. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, or Associate's degree with demonstrated competency, in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Public Health, or any related discipline. A minimum of two years' related occupational experience is also required. Requires a demonstrated dedication to teaching as well as an understanding of and commitment to the community college mission and environment. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Public Health, or any related discipline; community college or university teaching experience; course work or experience in adult development or gerontology; supervisory experience; experience delivering online instruction. Documented track record of innovation in the classroom and teaching. Ability to learn to use of instructional technology.
