With more than 4,000 employees, Public Works offers over 500 different types of career opportunities that promote professional and personal growth as well as a rewarding and exciting work environment.Don't miss an opportunity to join our team!An Engineering Aid II, Public Works is responsible for performing a combination of the following essential functions.- Provides information requested by the public at public counters such as hydrologic data, locations on maps, construction specifications and drawings and information of a similar nature.
- Maintains schedule boards and compiles reports of schedule progress on projects working from reports of recorded time and monies expended.
- Updates related charts and graphs and as directed extracts data from records for special reports.
- Assembles job data pouches by pulling records of designated surveys.
- Prepares final ink tracings of engineering designs requiring the transfer of data, organization of sheet layouts, and printing of title blocks.
- Makes ink drawings of street and channel profiles and cross sections.
- Plots contours and station distances as required.
- Determines irregular areas by use of planimeter or computational software packages and calculates volumes of materials using prescribed and standardized procedures.
- Redraws maps to new scales exercising a knowledge of proportional relationships. depicts boundaries, location of sewer lines, roads, water mains and pertinent related information.
