Job Overview

The successful candidate will serve as a key member of our customer service team, providing exceptional support to external stakeholders, including the general public, concerned citizens, and other organizations. As a first-line point of contact, you will respond to inquiries, provide information, and refer customers to relevant resources, ensuring a professional and courteous experience. Your primary focus will be on addressing Spotted Lanternfly-related concerns, providing accurate information, and assisting with reporting and problem resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the overall operation and professional image of our customer-focused call center
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, responding to inquiries, and providing information on Spotted Lanternfly sightings, resources, and services
  • Correspond with a diverse customer base via phone, video conference, email, or regular mail, ensuring timely and effective communication
  • Investigate unusual situations or concerns, assisting in problem resolution, and referring customers to relevant departments or units as needed
  • Operate various equipment and computer systems, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, to ensure efficient and accurate service delivery
  • Assist with required reporting systems, collaborating with internal teams, and external partners, such as the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and the United States Department of Agriculture
  • Develop working-level knowledge of Spotted Lanternfly, staying up-to-date on the latest information, research, and best practices
  • Work closely with the call center manager to meet stakeholder needs, ensure quality service, and contribute to the overall success of the team

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with Spanish language skills highly valued
  • Proven customer service experience, with a strong focus on providing exceptional support and resolving customer concerns
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, building strong relationships with colleagues, and clientele
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, and ability to learn new software and systems
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Experience working in a call center environment, with a focus on customer service and support
  • Knowledge of basic entomology, or a willingness to learn about Spotted Lanternfly and other invasive species
  • Familiarity with sales, client management, or information technology, with a focus on customer-facing roles
