As a key member of our customer-facing team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, handling a high volume of phone calls, and performing various administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of our department.

Key Responsibilities

As an Experienced Customer Service Specialist II, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to the public via phone, in person, in writing, and online
  • Answering phone calls and directing them accordingly
  • Typing letters, reports, forms, and correspondence
  • Maintaining records and reports on a personal computer
  • Performing data retrieval and entry into our software application
  • Performing other clerical functions as needed, such as processing mail, filing, and scanning
  • Providing support to the Animal Services – Pet Services team as needed

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma
  • One (1) year of experience in customer service duties involving frequent public contact
  • Experience in the operation of a personal computer required
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare reports
  • Ability to meet and deal with people effectively
  • Ability to use a personal computer and related software
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Ability to learn the procedures and operations of the unit to which assigned
  • Ability to type accurately on a personal computer
  • Ability to communicate with others in person, via telephone, in writing, and online
  • Ability to read for comprehension

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications would be an asset:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Experience working in a fast-paced customer service environment
  • Knowledge of standard office methods and procedures
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic
  • Knowledge of County departments, operations, and regulations

Physical Skills

As a Customer Service Specialist II, you will need to be able to:

  • Communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication
