The Opportunity

As a Customer Service Representative in our Housing Customer Service Center, you'll be the first point of contact for our students, faculty, staff, parents, and guests. You'll take pride in providing exceptional customer service, resolving problems, and ensuring full customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

* Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and external customers, meeting their needs, offering options, and resolving problems in a timely and professional manner.

  • Offer information regarding policies and procedures, terms, and programs related to the service area, ensuring that customers are well-informed and satisfied.
  • Identify and prioritize problems and issues related to the service area, performing research, offering solutions, and referring to appropriate personnel or departments as needed.
  • Use information systems to input data, maintain databases, perform research for projects or issues, generate reports, and track problem status until resolution is achieved.
  • Study and maintain currency with all applicable policies and procedures, contracts, and related legal issues, ensuring that you're up-to-date on the latest developments.
  • Interpret terms and conditions of contracts, authorize changes or exceptions to contract terms, generate contracts for forms for distribution, and process applications, releases, cancellations, adjustments, changes, requests, fees, invoices, and other related paperwork.
  • Represent the department to students, parents, faculty, administrators, staff, and other external customers, making formal presentations as assigned and acting as a representative for the department at internal committee meetings.
  • Train, schedule, assign, and prioritize workloads, interpreting operating policies and procedures, ensuring timely completion of departmental work, and leading student workers as needed.
  • Notify appropriate personnel in the event of an emergency, maintain complete and accurate records of all student- or staff-related safety incidents, and provide services including processing and delivery of mail and packages.
  • Compose memos and letters based on knowledge of departmental and University policies and procedures, compile statistical reports and studies as requested, and perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Essential Qualifications

* Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum Experience: 1 year of customer service experience
  • Minimum Field of Expertise: Customer Service
  • Valid CA driver's license required
  • Participation in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree in a related field

  • 2 years of customer service experience
  • Field of Expertise: Student counseling, customer service
