Finance Manager / Controller (Remote)

Position Overview We are seeking a Finance Manager / Controller who will take full ownership of the financial operations of StayLage. This role manages all daily accounting functions including payables, vendor financials, bookkeeping, cost tracking, owner statements, tenant accounting, reconciliations, and reporting. You will serve as the trusted financial authority on behalf of the owner, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong financial controls as we scale. Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Bookkeeping

  • Oversee all daily bookkeeping for company and property-level accounts
  • Maintain general ledgers, chart of accounts, and reconciliations
  • Handle month-end and year-end closings Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
  • Process all payables accurately and on schedule
  • Manage vendor onboarding, compliance, and payment terms
  • Track and monitor costs, identifying savings or discrepancies Property Owner Accounting & Reporting
  • Prepare and deliver monthly owner statements
  • Track property-level income, expenses, reserves, and distributions
  • Maintain clear, audit-ready documentation Department Accounting
  • Manage department charges, payments, balances, expense, and adjustments
  • Oversee tenant balancing for property revenue department Employee Finance
  • Track and reconcile employee reimbursements, expenses, and payroll Financial Leadership & Systems
  • Build, refine, and optimize financial processes and controls
  • Provide accurate financial reporting to the owner
  • Act decisively and ethically as the authority over financial transactions
  • Support budgeting and forecasting efforts QualificationsRequired
  • 3–7+ years in accounting or finance (property management or real estate experience highly preferred)
  • Strong experience with AP, bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • High integrity and ethical decision-making
  • Creative problem-solving skills; able to handle evolving needs
  • Proficiency with Google Sheet/Excel or similar
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills Preferred
  • Experience with a fast-growing company/start-up environment
  • Proficiency with property management software
  • Ability to build systems and processes from scratch
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort handling multiple accounts and entities
  • Experience preparing many ledger balances, owner statements, or property-level reporting Work Environment & Culture
