About the Agnita M. Stine Schreiber Curator Position We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced museum curator to join our team as the Agnita M. Stine Schreiber Curator. This is a full-time, remote position that offers a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic and dedicated team of professionals who are passionate about the arts and committed to making a positive impact in the community. The successful candidate will be a creative, energetic, and collaboratively-spirited individual with a strong background in art history, museum studies, or a related field, and a proven track record of developing compelling exhibitions and engaging interpretive materials.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement an exhibition strategy that is timely, relevant, and contributes to the museum's reputation as a leader in the field Conduct research and develop original exhibition projects, including proposing and developing exhibition concepts, corresponding with lenders, and planning installations Collaborate with the executive director, museum team, and external partners to develop and implement exhibitions, programs, and events that engage diverse audiences and promote the museum's mission Develop and refine the collection plan, making recommendations for acquisitions and deaccessioning, and serving as liaison to the Collections Committee Ensure the proper care and housing of the collection, including object handling, installation, and conservation Develop interpretive materials, including wall texts, object labels, gallery guides, and online content, to engage and educate visitors Collaborate with colleagues in education and marketing to develop and promote programs and events that contribute to the museum's mission Participate in planning for the museum's expansion, including the development of new gallery space, storage, and community engagement initiatives Serve as a vocal and visible leader and public spokesperson for the institution, promoting the museum and its programs to diverse audiences Essential Qualifications Master's degree in art history, museum studies, or a related field Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a museum or art-related field, with a proven track record of developing exhibitions and engaging interpretive materials Strong knowledge of current trends in the curatorial field and a commitment to staying up-to-date with developments in the field Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to address academic audiences and the general public with equal skill and passion Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in art history or a related field Experience working with collections management software and digital platforms Knowledge of conservation principles and practices Experience with grant writing and fundraising Fluency in a second language Skills and Competencies Strong visual sense and aesthetic standards Excellent research and analytical skills Ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits As a member of the WCMFA team, the Agnita M. Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
