About The Job At Spectro Cloud, we are in search of a talented individual to become an integral part of our Engineering team, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of our cutting-edge Palette platform. As a Quality Engineering Lead within our organization, you will be at the forefront of building test automation for an always-on, self-healing, and declarative platform specifically engineered for the management of both infrastructure and applications. You will have the opportunity to contribute significantly by designing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of test automation suites for our platform, including end-to-end tests, scale/load testing, chaos testing, and other relevant non-functional requirements for a distributed microservices based application. Proficiency in Kubernetes is required - it lies at the very heart of our contemporary cloud-native, data center and edge solutions. Collaboration is of utmost importance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to create scalable, dependable, and secure solutions that push boundaries. This is a remote-first position open to candidates residing in the United States and Canada. OTE range (base salary + variable compensation): $160-180K CAD, DOE Qualities You will excel as a Quality Engineering Lead at Spectro Cloud if you thrive in ambiguity and can deliver value amidst unclear requirements. Success hinges upon your capacity to tackle intricate challenges through a series of incremental steps. It entails embracing test-and-learn methodologies rather than focussing solely on heads-down development. Qualifications
While we don't expect candidates to check every box, we do look for the following when assessing applicants:
- Knowledge of distributed system behaviour, fault tolerance, and reliability testing strategies.
- Strong experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks, especially for end-to-end and non-functional (performance, scalability, chaos) testing
- Experience designing and executing load and performance tests (e.g., using k6, Locust, Gatling, JMeter, etc.)
- Experience implementing chaos testing or resiliency validation (e.g., using Chaos Mesh, LitmusChaos, Gremlin, etc.)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test orchestration (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Argo Workflows, etc.)
- Experience with observability and metrics collection tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) to validate NFRs.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Expert shell scripting proficiency
- Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g., Go, Python, TypeScript)
- Experience with cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills — you are capable of leading automation efforts for our team

- Initial screening interview
- One or two technical interviews, including hands-on coding assessments
