JOB TYPE Classification: Nonexempt Supervises Positions: No JOB SUMMARY Performs technical procedures and functions for electro diagnostics. Observes cardiac monitors and identifies, calculates, interprets, and communicates information regarding cardiac rhythms. Applies and discontinues telemetry services as instructed. Enters edits, and other paperwork as applicable to the department. Collaboration: Participates in the teaching and counseling of patients and their support system.

• Possesses the ability to prioritize job duties according to patients' needs and changing acuity levels.
• Administers and evaluates medication therapies, performs patient transfers, and transports patients via wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher to other departments. Communication and Documentation: Communicates individualized plan of care and patient's progress toward goals to all members of the care team, including the patient and his/her chosen support system.
• Utilizes appropriate communication tools when communicating within the interdisciplinary team and when handing off patient care.
• Documents appropriate information within a timely manner. Professional Accountability/Evidence Based Practice: Maintain clinical and professional competencies according to department policies.
• Practices according to the state requirements and standards.
• Engages in self-reflection and develops personal goals to enhance knowledge, obtain professional certification, or pursue academic degree.
• Integrates gained knowledge into practice. Quality Improvement: Intervenes when standards of care are not met.
• Makes suggestions and helps with implementation of improvement processes.

QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma or GED Required. Experience: Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Licensure: N/A Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Medical terminology and CPR-basic. Ability to operate electronic and computer-based equipment. Ability to recognize technical inferior EKG and take corrective action as appropriate. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of cardiac monitor interpretation, skills, and abilities. Must practice appropriate communication skills and sensitivity to patient's needs. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age, principles of growth and development over the life span and to accommodate cultural diversity among the patients being served. Must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient’s status, to identify each patient’s population specific or behavioral needs and provide the care as needed. Must be able to effectively teach others on cardiac rhythms. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
