Now, we’re growing a dedicated tax department to meet our clients’ needs — and doing it differently from traditional firms. This full-time CPA role is designed to be 40 hours per week, year-round — no busy-season overtime, no evening crunch, no Sunday email chaos. We expect you to help make that possible by forecasting workloads, setting realistic timelines, and proactively managing expectations with clients. You will have complete autonomy over your tax process — from reviewing, signing, and filing returns, to ensuring the quality of your work. The Role: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) This is a full-time, remote, 1099 position (first 12 months) for a licensed CPA only. Schedule Expectations

• Consistent 8-hour weekday schedule
• The first 4 hours of your shift must be completed before 12:00 PM ET
• Flexibility allowed for the second 4 hours
• You’ll choose your standard weekly schedule (with minor changes allowed in advance)
• No overtime required — even during tax season

What You’ll Be Responsible For Tax Return Preparation & Compliance

• Prepare, review, sign, and file federal, state, and local returns for individuals and businesses
• Ensure all returns meet the highest quality standards and comply with tax regulations
• Review client documentation for completeness and accuracy
• Maintain deadlines by managing the calendar proactively and setting reasonable timelines
• Ensure the tax return process meets ethical standards and adheres to firm policies — no shortcuts

Client Communication & Coordination

• Act as the main point of contact for all tax-related questions and updates
• Request and organize client documents efficiently
• Set clear expectations and timelines for clients — and communicate early when extensions are needed
• Liaise with IRS and state agencies as needed

Process & Workflow Management

• Track return statuses and deadlines in our systems
• Forecast seasonal workloads and recommend adjustments when necessary
• Help define best practices as we build out a scalable, low-stress tax function
• Ensure deadlines are met without overextending the team

What You Bring

• Active CPA license — required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum 5 years in a CPA firm, with experience preparing and filing business and individual returns
• Strong client communication skills
• Ability to plan, forecast, and manage workflow to support a 40-hour workweek, even in peak season
• Familiarity with QuickBooks and other accounting platforms
• Experience with ecommerce, real estate, or inventory-based businesses is a plus
• Ability to maintain high ethical standards and deliver quality results under pressure
• Professional home office setup and high level of personal organization

Compensation & Details

• Pay: Up to $100,000/year
• Type: Full-time, 1099 contract (12-month term)
• Schedule: 40 hours/week, no overtime required — including during tax season
• Location: Remote (U.S.-based, EST strongly preferred)
• Bonus: Performance-based incentives
• Post-12-month re-evaluation: After the initial 12-month term, your position will be re-evaluated for potential full-time employment based on performance.
