Experienced Customer Service Representative – Payments and Digital Strategy Team

As a Customer Service Representative on our Payments and Digital Strategy team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our credit union's daily activities. You will be responsible for processing various transactions, including check processing, direct deposits, and budget transfers, while maintaining the highest level of accuracy and attention to detail. Your exceptional communication skills and ability to work independently will enable you to provide top-notch customer service to our members, while also collaborating with other departments to resolve complex issues.

Key Responsibilities

* Complete daily tasks related to check processing, direct deposits, and budget transfers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

  • Coordinate with vendors, the Federal Reserve Bank, and other institutions to resolve issues and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Assist other departments with fraud resolution, member inquiries, and accounting standard ledger balancing
  • Work on member cases and projects assigned, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Follow and maintain guidelines and procedures to ensure strict compliance with NACHA regulations and guidelines, as well as Federal Banking laws
  • Process mortgage bills, multi-account and member deposits, credit card bills, and other transactions, including IRA, bankruptcy, and payoff transactions
  • Review, examine, and approve Remote Deposit, Mobile, ATM, and other imaged-enabled products
  • Log, review, and make necessary GL, account changes, and/or returns
  • Process Stop Pays and Check Batching
  • Complete daily balancing and department closing
  • Obtain information from members for the timely and accurate processing of international and domestic budget transfer requests
  • Research and verify incoming and outgoing budget transfer information
  • Communicate with vendors to process budget transfers
  • Understand and be familiar with outgoing and incoming budget transfer regulations
  • Deposit check returns, review member draft changes, process member checks, verify members for outgoing budget transfers, and Federal Reserve verifying and releasing budget transfers
  • Complete daily processing of workflows associated with overdue returns, supply of receipts, international collections, and legal fees

Essential Qualifications

* High school degree or GED

  • Intermediate Excel and Word experience
  • Ability to work prolonged hours in support of business needs
  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
  • Ability to self-motivate with strong employer skills and ability for attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain excellent performance and attendance
  • Must pass relevant blithequark and Credit Union pre-employment compliance exams

Preferred Qualifications

* Previous customer/member service experience

  • Previous banking or Credit Union experience
  • Episys/Symitar and processing wires experience
  • Ability to cross-train and perform any position assigned within the department
  • Ability to interact professionally with all personnel and members
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple responsibilities, and function as an integral part of a team

Skills and Competencies

* Skilled in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) gained through both work experience with the software or education and hands-on use of the software

  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and review data
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work and meet deadlines under high-pressure conditions
  • Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to the success of the team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively with members and colleagues
