Are you an experienced Operations Manager within Warehousing and Logistics? Can you demonstrate experience managing operational activities in a fast paced environment? The Operations Manager will have overall responsibility for the operational activities, financial performance, ensuring that Company and health and safety policies and procedures are applied and adhered to at all times. Regular communications with the Customer will be a major part of this role and Customer satisfaction will be paramount. Specific Responsibilities: In addition to the main duties and responsibilities listed below the Operations Manager will be expected to perform other duties commensurate with their skills and abilities. • Develop and maintain a working relationship with the customer and their associates ensuring that agreed Quality and Performance standards are achieved at all times. • Fully understand customer requirements and adopt an approach which will ensure that customer's needs are met and exceeded, through regular contact and communication with the customer, managing close internal and external customer relationships. • Create an embedded Multi User site culture and mentality • Setting and adherence to agreed budget levels. • Analyse and understand Health & Safety related risks and take action to reduce or eliminate these risks according to a prioritised plan alongside driving a safety culture. Ensure that all legal requirements are met. • Responsible for the management, motivation and development of the on site Operations team, ensuring and maintaining open communication on a day to day basis. • Be an active part of the Site Management Team and building relationships with Peers • Leading by example • Development of the Maersk culture and values within the site ensuring areas such as equal opportunities, Health and Safety etc. are given priority. • Continued focus on the Maersk Engagement Survey, results and Action Planning to achieve improved Engagement scores. • Objective setting of realistic and demanding KPI's, actively seeking ways of improving efficiency, performance and reducing costs throughout the Operation. • Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement in all site operations. • Ensure effective resource planning and management to meet customer and business requirements. • Ensure all legislative and general training requirements are completed effectively and in good time. • Ensure compliance with all Company operating and administrative procedures. • Ensure that all inbound, outbound and internal stock movement processes are recorded and reported accurately, compliantly and on a timely basis within the Relevant Warehouse Management System and related Duty Management System, to be compliant with HMRC Notices in relation to excise bonded warehousing, particularly Notice 197. • Ensure compliance to all required submissions of daily, weekly, monthly documentation to HMRC. • Ensure overall stock is controlled and discrepancies are within the agreed tolerances. • Development and implementation of a site Succession Plan and ensure ongoing people development planning via the appraisal process and regular 121's. • Develop a Culture of people engagement to aid staff retention. Key Performance Indicators: • Achievement of customer Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) • Performance against budget • Customs compliance • Stock accuracy • Meeting Customer quality and efficiency targets. • Absenteeism, employee engagement and performance levels. Key skills for the role: Technical skills: • Microsoft Office (advanced level) • Employment Law knowledge • Experience in Bonded Warehouse Systems • Budget setting and finance control • Understanding of WMS and DMS systems • Operational warehouse management skills • IOSH Managing Safely Soft skills: • Communication and relationship building at all levels (Customer, HMRC, Management, Operations). • Ability to lead, direct and motivate across all departments. • Development of Management roles within the site succession plan. Learning description of the role: • Development of a true understanding of all aspects of running a HMRC bonded warehouse facility. • Development of a true understanding of customers business needs and service requirements for a bonded FMCG warehouse environment. • Being able to manage effectively suppliers and service providers such as hauliers, staff agencies, product suppliers and ensure they are to the required standards for business being conducted. • Understand and apply all Maersk, HSSE, and HMRC policies and procedures. • Develop a detailed understanding of the requirements with regards to detailed warehouse management systems and duty management systems. • Understand all Maersk HR and appraisal procedures.
