Responsibilities
As a Senior Technical Designer at blithequark, your key responsibilities will include:
- Leveraging your Unreal Engine expertise to assist and mentor other designers
- Raising the technical capability and rigor of the design team through promoting best practices and correct exercise
- Proactively seeking out workflow and tool upgrades to improve efficiency and productivity
- Assisting designers troubleshoot issues and implement solutions
- Implementing strong, maintainable content and features in Unreal/Blueprint
- Writing design specs, vetting them with stakeholders, and making clever changes
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Expert knowledge of Unreal Engine and its capabilities, particularly Blueprint, UMG, Animation Blueprint, and Gameplay Framework
- Foundations in 3D math
- Good-sized programming skills with C++
- 2+ years of experience in a technical design position
- 1+ shipped titles in Unreal
- Experience delivering high-quality multiplayer games
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- A passion for game development, incubation, construction, and shipping video games
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following skills and experience will be a bonus:
- Programming experience in Python, C#, and/or Lua
- Art and animation skills useful for early gameplay prototypes (e.g., the ability to model, rig, and animate simple placeholder meshes)
