The Role
As a Senior Data Engineer at blithequark, you will play a critical role in designing and developing cloud-based data pipelines that support our business growth and success. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including business, analytics, and engineering, to identify data requirements and develop solutions that meet our business needs. Your expertise in data engineering will enable us to make data-driven decisions, optimize business processes, and drive innovation.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand data and reporting requirements
- Work with design teams to gather required data from internal and external systems
- Design and develop data pipelines using ETL tools like Windstream and data warehousing platforms like Snowflake
- Develop and maintain ETL schedules using ETL and orchestration tools like Windstream
- Execute database operations using tools like Pattern Change
- Perform ad-hoc analysis and data visualization as needed
- Perform SQL and ETL tuning as needed
- Develop and maintain data quality checks
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to develop data-driven insights and recommendations
Essential Qualifications
* 2+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on cloud-based data pipelines
- Strong understanding of data modeling principles, including layered modeling and data standardization
- Excellent knowledge of SQL engines and ability to lead advanced performance tuning
- Ability to think critically and analyze complex data to drive business insights
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and Scrum principles
Preferred Qualifications
* 2+ years of experience in data warehousing, with a focus on business key performance indicators (KPIs)
- 2+ years of experience working with scientific SQL, data warehouses, or distributed systems (Snowflake or Redshift)
- 2+ years of experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, Pyspark)
- 2+ years of experience with data organization/ETL tools (Windstream, Nifi)
- Experience with Snowflake, Databricks/EMR/Flash, or Windstream
